A whole week without painting!
Due to holidays and travel, I was unable to get to the brushes last week. However, I briefly started this piece before Thanksgiving and am trying to get a little time here and there to work on it now. I am back to flowers and a little larger size for this one. I decided to post a tiny sample of the work-in-progress since it may take a while to complete.

Two Sisters - SOLD
I struggled terribly with this one - it had a mind of its own. I finally decided to let it be.

Challenge painting
Moonlight Solitude, 8 x 10", acrylic on canvasboard , NFS
This painting is my entry for an online challenge. The idea was to create a painting with soft edges, limited palette, limited tonal ranges (a la Whistler's Noctures). Our palette was limited to white, greys, one yellow and one blue. I used titanium white, payne's grey, yellow ochre, cerulean blue.
I found the challenge very difficult - my work is usually all about color and contrast - but I felt like I learned a lot, so it was a good experience.

Lost Spring
The approaching cold weather had me thinking about the tulips I received last Spring.....

A visitor
An old friend visited me recently. Someone I haven't seen or spoken to in twenty years. She brought me flowers. I am so glad to have her back in my life again.

And so it begins...
Picking up my brushes again after a ten year hiatus while my children were babies.
How I missed my art!
I'm starting out small - approachable, non-threatening.
I find myself awakening to color, to light, to new life, to hope.
It feels good to be back!

Welcome
Welcome.
It is my intent to blog about my art - its progress, my inspirations, the paintings themselves. My blog will be a process, a record and part of the journey. Thanks for joining me.
