I wanted to capture the morning light as it shone on my vase of daffodils - it created much contrast and I loved the dance between the dark and the light.

Peeps! - SOLD

Just wanted to have a little fun with this one!
Their little faces got a little smushed because my youngest son thought they were fun to squish. Whoever thought of the idea of coating marshmellow with colored sugar? Child-heaven.

Chili Peppers SOLD

I don't like to skip too many days without posting here...it is one of the issues I have when I am working on a larger painting. I need to learn to work on more than one painting at a time so that I can still have work to post! I took a break from the painting I am wrestling with that is to go to the Spring Show with Caterpillar Coaster in order to do a smaller piece.

Chili Peppers
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD
My two older kids love all things spicy and are always trying to talk me into buying fresh hot peppers (yes, we have an entire shelf in the cupboard dedicated to hot sauces!). These were such a pretty shade of green, with a tiny spot of orange on the end, I couldn't resist. I've been working on the other painting so these sat tin the bag for a few days. When I went to take them out this morning, they were already totally red! My youngest son got quite excited and exclaimed "I can't wait to see what color they turn next!"

Caterpillar Coaster - SOLD

Caterpillar Coaster
6x6 inches

Did you ever notice how creepy some of the characters on kiddie rides at fairs and older amusement parks can be? Since I've started noticing, I've become fascinated by them!

This painting is for an upcoming spring show. The theme is "Parks & Recreation". One of my families favorite forms of summer recreation is to go to some of the local old amusement parks and to the old-fashioned traveling fairs and carnivals. I hope eventually to do an entire series of little scenes, little glimpses, of all the colors and sounds and the feel of these places. Right now I am working on three pieces for the exhibition to be finished by the end of this month.

Spring Tulips

The sun is out today, so I was inspired to make a little painting thinking about the spring. It will be here eventually, right? Some years it seems like the snow will never go away......
