Pepper Sauce - 6x6 Still Life Painting, Kitchen Art, Small Acrylic Painting

Pepper Sauce
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on canvas

This is a commission from a friend who liked the 3 x 3 painting I did of the Tabasco bottle as part of my Fun-A-Day project. It was interesting to paint 6 x 6 after so many 3 x 3's!

Please contact me if you are interested in your own custom painting inspired by on of my Fun-A-Day pieces....

Having a Ball - Small Still Life Painting Kitchen Art Fun-A-Day Project

Having a Ball
3 x 3 inches
acrylic on canvas

This is # 31 -  the last official piece for my Fun-A-Day Project of 3 x 3 paintings of things from my kitchen - and yes, it has certainly been a lot of fun!

It has also been a challenge -  to make sure I came up with a new set up (sometimes just trying to look at the same things in a different way), finish a painting each day, and then actually scan and post each one, each day. I am still varnishing and putting on hooks so they will be ready to hang. I look forward to seeing how they will all look together. And I hope to continue with more.....

From the Top - Small Painting Still Life of Glass Bottles Fun-A-Day

From the Top
3 x 3 inches
acrylic on canvas

A couple of the little glass bottles from the collection on my kitchen windowsill. I love seeing how the light hits the pretty colored glass, so all my little bottles seem to migrate towards the window. With lots of other stuff. Hmmm - lets see.....a Ball canning jar and a few little vases with some dried flowers, some pretty rocks the boys have given me, a few sea shells and a bunch of seaglass from summers past, some interesting wine corks, a pretty green egg shell (whoops - guess I didn't throw them ALL away!), a couple of odd coins, some hand-forged square nails we found in the yard....a pretty eclectic combination of things when you stop to look....

Hot Stuff - Small Kitchen Still Life Painting Fun-A-Day

Hot Stuff
3 x 3 inches
acrylic on canvas

This is Day 8 of my Fun-A-Day Project to create a 3 x 3 inch painting of something from my kitchen.

Following the spicy theme from yesterday.... we have lots of hot sauces, too. Probably many more than one family needs. My kids even get hot sauce in their Christmas stockings!

Painting more bottles could be fun....I have been thinking I may have to do another 30 days of "Things from my Refrigerator". That could get scary - especially if I were to get down to painting the unidentifable objects in the back of the fridge,,,,,

Spectrum - Still Life Painting

Spectrum
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on gessobord panel

Playing around with some glass and colored liquids......

This is one of those paintings where I had an idea in my head, but it didn't quite workout as I had envisioned. I may still play a little with this one, but I need it for a deadline, so we will see.

Bottled Up - Small Still Life Painting with Bottles

Bottled Up
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on gessobord panel

Taking a short break from the florals to do a few still lifes for an upcoming juried show. I think I will probably be re-visiting this one in the daylight to see what tweaks are needed, but for now I am calling it done!

And a bit of good news....this group of framed works were all juried in to the Newburyport Art Association's Gift Shop. So if you are looking for some of my work locally, check out this great little shop in downtown Newburyport. They have small works from a number of member artists in addition to some other fun gift ideas.

By the Bottle - Small Acrylic Still Life Painting on Canvas SOLD

By the Bottle
5 x 3 inches
acrylic on canvas
SOLD

Hmmmm, somehow I must have known subconsciously that this was coming when I started this painting....but I'm going to need a few bottles of something tomorrow. Just got the official call of "snow day" and the three kids are dancing around like crazy.

This painting is part of a little grouping going to West Village Provisions tomorrow - well, I guess now it'll have to be Monday.  Wish me luck (and some patience!) for tomorrow.......

#18 Wednesday in a Cafe - Still Life Painting

#18 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge
Wednesday in a Cafe
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on gessobord panel

Yep - being that there is only a week of the challenge left, and I still have two large paintings to finish up - I don't think I have any chance of hitting 30! Oh well. It has been fun to follow along and check out everyone's work anyways.....

This is one last painting for the "Reflections" show at MixtMedia Gallery in Ipswich, MA. I took the theme literally - painting all kinds of glass and other reflective surfaces for the show - some of my favorite things to paint! It is always interesting to see the effects of the reflections and the abstract shapes that are formed. For this one, I wanted to add a little bit of a pattern to the challenge. It definitely kept me on my toes!

Day 13 - The Collection - Small Still Life Painting

#13 in the 30 Day Painting Challenge - The Collection
7 x 5 inches
acrylic on canvas

I love little colored glass bottles and tiny vases, and am always looking for ways to put them in my still lifes. The theme for an upcoming exhibition at a gallery I show at is "Reflections" so I immediately thought of these little glass bottles that I got from a seller on Etsy. I set them up in different ways on a mirror - I wanted there to be all kinds of wonderful abstract colored shapes that come together as bottles when viewed altogether. I'm still playing around with the concept - I'm sure I will revisit it at some point.

Technically I am caught up with the challenge even though this one took a little longer to complete than some of the others. I had gotten used to being one ahead and posting the night before, so I feel like I am still behind, even though this will be posted on the right day! I can't believe we are approaching the halfway point.....

This painting will be available at MixtMedia Gallery in Ipswich, Massachusetts later this month.
