Back in Business....and Happy Halloween!

Autumn Light
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Showing this little one again in honor of Halloween (and it is still available here  SOLD!).

I've been out of commission due to a snowstorm on Saturday. (Yes, it is still October!) The weight of the snow on the still-leaf-laden trees was just too much - trees and powerlines down everywhere. We have been without power since Saturday (hence no posting, and very little painting between the cold and the lack of light!) and lost a lot of trees (including one on our garage). However the worst news of all in our household - trick-or-treating was postponed until Friday....I have three very sad little boys in my home.....

Anyways, a Happy Halloween to all - may it be more "treat" than "trick" for you!!

A Little off the Top - SOLD

A Little off the Top
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

There's one thing about doing the more involved painting for specific shows...I am missing getting daily paintings done! I am still painting everyday, yet feel like I have little to show for it. These paintings aren't even all that big...just a lot of layers and detail. So I decided to take a short break today and do a quick little painting. A gourd, of course. I thought I'd sneak one more in while I still had the gourd still life set up!

Now back to the still life in progress.....

Morning Chat

Morning Chat
5x7 inches
acrylic on gessobord panel

One more for the Wine and Art Reception....I'm getting down to the wire now.....I need to complete at least one more piece this week - that will give me the beginning of next week to get all the framing done.

I don't think I will ever tire of trying to capture the morning light and its shadows - but I don't think I will ever quite capture its magic either  ;-)

House on the Hill SOLD

House on the Hill
7x5 inches
acrylic on canvas
SOLD

I'm still undecided on this one.....
This is a landscape from Veasey Memorial Park, the place where the Wine and Art Reception is to be held November 5th. I would really like to complete a landscape from somewhere on the grounds as one of my paintings for the exhibit. I'm not yet sure if is is going to be this one or not......

Nightmare SOLD

Nightmare
Carnival Series
3.5 x 2.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Okay...I am not a clown hater - but this creepy clown (actually part of a GAME!) has been on my mind ever since I saw it! I knew it would show up at least a few times in my paintings. I needed to take a break from the exhibit pieces I have been doing to do a little quick painting. I decided it was time to get that clown out of my brain - so here he is.

Did you know that the fear of clowns is called "Coulrophobia"?

I know, I know...the work is coming slower these days! This was basically finished last night, but wanted to fix a few little things this morning, so I waited to post it. This is another piece for the Wine and Art Reception at Veasey Park in November. 3 more to go!

Shadows on Stripes

Shadows in Stripes
5x5 inches
acrylic on gessobord
available at MiXtMedia Gallery

Back to the tomatoes!

I was playing around with different still life setups - using different objects and backgrounds - when the morning light began to shine through the window, creating wonderful shadows.  I was drawn to the color of the tomatoes against the striped background and the shapes that the strong shadows made.

This one is not currently for sale - I'm considering it for inclusion in the upcoming Art and Wine Event.
