Lollipop Woods - Mini Painting from a Vintage Game Board

Lollipop Woods
3 x 3 inches
acrylic on 1/2" MDF block

Gotta love Candyland! I found it pretty mind-numbing to play with my boys, but I always loved the graphics on the game board and the cards with the colored squares. I was so disappointed when I bought the game for my kids that the game board had changed so much from when I was little. When I first decided that I wanted to paint a little scene from Candyland, I was lucky enough to have a friend with a vintage board which she lent me for a photo shoot.

This painting is part of my Fun-A-Day project, as well as the 30 Day Painting Challenge.

Dots - Small Acrylic Still Life of Candy

Dots
4 x 6 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

I like doing these little paintings on watercolor paper, where I leave the white of the paper for a background. When finished, I then varnish only the painted areas, and the color really "pops". it is a lot of fun to experiment with different surfaces!

This painting has SOLD at the Newburyport Art Association.

Purple Pair - Oriignal ACEO Painting Candy Still Life Easter Peeps

Purple Pair
2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

A quick little one for West Village Provisions to replace an Easter-themed painting that sold at the end of last week.

I've had purple bunny Peeps on my mind ever since a friend of mind posted a picture on Facebook of smores made with purple bunny Peeps. I knew I had to find some! A few stores later - SCORE! Purple bunny Peeps. A painting today - and probably smores tomorrow  ;-)

First Dance - Small Still Life Painting ACEO for Valentine

First Dance
3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

I had to sneak in a quick painting of these shy little Kisses....with Valentine's Day coming up and all....

Small break from my Fun-A-Day Project, but don't fear, I will probably post the next one later tonight.

I have so many ideas and so many things in  my head that I want to paint. I keep stopping the actual painting to jot down ideas or do a few sketches. I try to kind of "go with it" when that happens, because I know those ideas and sketches will be very helpful to me during times when I am not feeling very creative  ;-) It's just frustrating because it makes me feel like I am not painting fast enough!

Anyhow, this ACEO will be available with a few more Valentine's Day-themed pieces at Positive Images Gallery in Haverhill, Massachusetts later this week.

Day 29 - Small Still Life with Candy

Colorful Collection
3 x 4 inches
acrylic on 3/8" canvas

One more little candy painting for Positive Images Gallery! Colorful jellybeans = cheerful painting, right?!

Can't believe it is already Day 29 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge. Thanks to Leslie Saeta for "hosting" - and coming up with the great idea. Lots of artists taking part this time around....and I am pleased that I was able to keep up! I did miss posting one day, but on another day I posted two paintings, so as long as I finish a painting tomorrow, I will indeed  have completed 30 paintings in 30 days. Yay!

For October.....well, I do hope to keep up the pace! I don't know if I will be as motivated to actually post each day, but we will see. And I want to get back to my "Inspiration Mondays" and "Work in Progress Wednesdays". I have a lot of painting to do this month - while I don't have any shows until November, I do have a whole bunch of gallery deadlines, a couple of commissions, and (as if I could forget!)  the holidays are coming up, too.....

This painting, along with the other candy paintings  (as well as some of my other works) will now be available at my newest venue: Positive Images Gallery on Wingate Street in Haverhill.
I'm excited to be a part of this great shop - a fun little gift gallery with local art and photos as well as some unique free trade gift ideas - and the best card collection around.

A Sweet Heart - Original Valentine ACEO Painting Red Heart SOLD

A Sweet Heart
2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches
acrylic on 1/8" archival canvas panel
SOLD

I had to sneak a little one in for Valentine's Day!

I've been wanting to try something wrapped in cellophane - this is my first attempt. Very interesting surface to try to represent!

This ACEO is on a little handmade acid free canvas board with a WOOD core - no cardboard. The board is about 1/8" thick and wonderfully sturdy. Cool, huh? I may have to get some of these for my plein air work.

Because these little boards look so cute on the tiny wood easels, I'll even include one with your order!

Kissing Up, Too - Candy Themed ACEO Painting SOLD

Kissing Up, Too
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Two little ACEOs coming up by special request from a very patient collector. It feels like it has been a while since I have done anything this size - but with holiday shows coming up, I had better work on a few! I also forgot how much I like the effect of acrylic on watercolor paper. Hmmm... something I might have to play with again some time.

I'm taking a little break from preparing exhibition entries to do a few little pieces - some by special request, some for holiday markets, and some for restocking at West Village Provisions. This almost feels relaxing after the craziness since late August! I'm trying not to commit to too many events around the holidays, but I am adding some new ones this year. Stay tuned for details.....

Candy Dish - New ACEO Candy Still Life SOLD

Candy Dish
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

The first jellybean painting was so much fun, I had to do another one!
I added a little more background with this one - it has been a fun set up to work with.

(BTW- does anyone know - did Blogger make some kind of changes today? I am having all sorts of problems with posting!)

Jellybean Bowl - New Small Still Life with Candy SOLD

Jellybean Bowl
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Jellybeans are always fun to paint with their round shapes and cheerful colors. I always try to wait until this time of year to paint them - I could be in trouble if I kept them around all year - it's too hard to keep from eating them! I think the purple ones are my favorite  ;-)

Jellybean Bowl will be hanging at West Village Provisions in Boxford, Massachusetts for the month of March. I will be painting another jellybean piece for sale on my blog and Etsy store next!

Candy Colors - SOLD

Candy Colors
3.5 x 2.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

One last (?) little study. I hope to translate these to some 5x7 panels soon.

So many ideas of paintings that I want to work on. It actually makes it difficult to begin a new one because I have so many ideas floating in my head and I don't know what to start next. How do you handle it when you feel like you have so many ideas, but so little time?

On the Dot - SOLD

On the Dot
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Another little candy study....I like the way this type of candy kind of "glows" in the light.

Plain or Peanut? SOLD

Plain or Peanut?
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Which are your favorite? Mine would have to be peanut.
I can't believe how many different kinds of M&Ms are on the store shelves these days! The pretzel ones are pretty good, but I'll have to stick with peanut as my favorite.

This was a fun one to paint. The shapes and sizes of the peanut M&Ms vary, so it made it a little extra challenging. I'm thinking about doing a small series of 5x7 paintings of candy. I will probably do a few of these little ones as studies to look at compositions and decide if I'm going to go ahead and do some a little larger.

This piece will be available at West Village Provisions in Boxford, MA through the month of February.

Kissing Up SOLD

Kissing Up
2.5 x 3.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

I hope that everyone had a lovely holiday!

I took a few days to try to get the house back into order (somewhat!).....and now I am ready to paint!
I suddenly realized that I have a lot of painting to get done in the next few weeks. It is also time to start making goals and plans for the new year. Hard to believe it is almost 2012 already.
