Rushing In - Mini Beach Painting Small Seascape Painting

Rushing In
4 x 3 inches
acrylic on 3/8" canvas

A tiny little seascape!

Actually I did a whole bunch of these:

for the Spring into Summer fundraiser. It seems kinda silly to post each one individually here on the blog, so I think I will get them added - well, at least the ones that are left! -  to my DailyPaintworks gallery (and eventually to my Etsy shop) so that if you are interested in individual ones, you can see them there.

Ocean Blue - Small Seascape ACEO Painting

Ocean Blue
3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

A little rough seas, right? Kinda like how I feel about now  ;-) I think I need to go spend a day at the ocean once everything calms down around here.....

This little piece will probably be going to the Newburyport Art Association in Newburyport, Massachusetts for their Holiday Show and Sale - which runs from November 29th until December 24th - a really great place for some unique holiday gift shopping.

Day 16 - Receding Tide Small Seascape Painting

Receding Tide
3-1/2 x 2-1/2  inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

More beaches, I know....always relaxing to paint (and to look at!) I needed this as a bit of a break from bigger projects.

I delivered this piece - along with 29 other paintings (!) to the Topsfield Fair yesterday. If my two larger works are accepted into the Professional Division of the Fine Arts competition, then the other 28 pieces will be available in the Coolidge Hall Art Room October 4-14th.
There are a lot of art lovers in attendance at the Fair and sales are always brisk, so be sure to check it out early on during the Fair's run if you are local.

Day 7 - Quiet Beach Tiny Seascape Painting

Quiet Beach
3 x 3 inches
acrylic on archival canvas panel

Okay, it actually early in the morning on Day 8 of the 30 Day Painting Challenge, but who's counting, right? I had this one done ahead of time and ready to post, but the family came up to the end of the Haverhill River Ruckus last night so we stayed to watch the fireworks. By the time I got home, unloaded the car from the show and then processed my credit card sales (yes, I know, I need a Square!) I was just too tired to post. So you will end up getting two posts today!

This is another tiny little painting. I got these great acid free handmade canvas panels from Springfield Canvas Supply. These are wonderful, great for traveling and plein air work - I got a few different sizes to try them out and they are so much  better quality than typical canvas panels. I am making these little 3 x 3 paintings available framed in a black wood frame with a one inch border. I need to take photos with the frames, because they are adorable  ;-)

Anyways, the framed piece is available here. And now to move on to Day 8......

Day 1 Rolling In - Small Beach Landscape

Rolling In
4 x 3 inches
acrylic on 1/2" canvas

Okay, I decided to dive right in.......(it is a beach scene after all, right?) I am going to take part once again in Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I tried the last time - but it was while I was working on some more involved gallery pieces and I only managed to make it to about 20. So - I'm giving it another try, and let's see if I can do any better this time! I have an awful lot of work to do in the next month, so hopefully the challenge will keep me focuses. We will see!

Anyways, this is a little beach scene on a tiny canvas - a great little piece to put on a stand or a mini easel right on your desk so you can take a little vacation in your mind whenever you want to.....
Rolling In - $30 + $3 shipping in the US
(please contact me for international shipping)

The Lookout - ACEO Landscape Painting Summer Beach Scene

The Lookout
3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

One more scene from Stiles Pond in Boxford, Massachusetts.

Another hot summer day here - I'm sure this beach was very crowded today! It's the kind of place where great summer memories are made - playing in the sand and building sandcastles, splashing and swimming with friends, fishing and frog hunting along the shore past the beach, cold slushes.....

I'm off for a few days with the kids to visit family. I have so many shows coming up that I do plan on getting some work in while away - hopefully I will get to posting it too!

The Lookout will be available at West Village Provisions in West Boxford, Massachusetts during July.

Pond's Edge - Small ACEO Landscape Painting Summer Beach Scene

Pond's Edge
(Stiles Pond, Boxford, Massachusetts)
3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

Still painting here - and working on a few commissions, I've just be negligent about posting. Busy, busy time with the school year winding up for the kids and all kinds of shows and festivals going on. I'm hoping to  make a big push to get a bunch of work done in the next few months before the craziness that always comes in late August through the end of the year....Unfortunately, I've been feeling less than motivated, especially with the big heat wave we have been having.....

Speaking of heat wave, this is a little beach scene painted in the ACEO size of 3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches. The beach is at Stiles Pond in Boxford, Massachusetts - I've recently completed a few paintings from this location. This painting and a few other new local scenes will be available at West Village Provisions, West Boxford, Massachusetts in July.

Ocean Breeze - Small ACEO Seascape Painting SOLD

#12/30 Day Challenge - Ocean Breeze
3.5 x 2.5 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

I had so much fun at the beach yesterday, that I decided I need to return today!
The waves are fun to paint - it is nice to work quicker and looser on these - especially compared with the painting of colored glass that I am working on now, and hopefully, will finish tonight.
I also kept thinking about how nice two of these little beach paintings would look matted and hung together.....

Anyways, back to the bottles - hope to be officially "caught up" on the Challenge tomorrow.

Summer Dreaming - ACEO Beach Landscape Painting SOLD

#11/30 Day Challenge - Summer Dreaming
2.5 x 3.5 inches (ACEO size)
acrylic on watercolor paper
SOLD

Yes, I missed a day!
Crazy day yesterday, plus I decided to start on a slightly larger painting, so nothing got completed. But the rules of the painting challenge give us two days to catch up, so I am going to give it a try.

Anyhow, the boys are off skiing and I have a touch of the winter blues on this dreary grey day, so I decided to spend a little time "at" the beach today. Summer dreaming!

With this 30 Day Challenge, I am going to try to use ACEOs and some little mini canvas paintings to help break up the time I need to spend on some exhibition pieces. Otherwise, I will never get 30 paintings done in 30 days, but also I am wondering if being more productive will actually help me focus a little better. And, I can also offer some of these little ones up for sale now, without having to hold everything for upcoming shows. It is probably going to be difficult, but then that is why they call it a "challenge," right?

Happy New Year!!

Beach Day
(I had to post this one on a snowy day in New England!)
6-1/8 x 5 inches
acrylic on 1/2" hardboard
$100 includes free shipping in the US
(please contact me for international shipping charges)

Hard to believe that it is 2013 already (or will be in a few hours!)

I took a bit of a break from painting while we traveled with the kids for the holidays. It was wonderful to go home for Christmas (first time in over 20 years!) and spend some down time with my family. But now it is time to gear up and get back to work!

This weekend I spent some time cleaning up from all my holiday shows, and inventorying supplies and unsold paintings. I still need to sit down and write my goals for the New Year - and update my business plan. I accomplished many of my goals for 2012 and hope to continue the momentum into 2013.

To start things off on the right foot, I decided to participate in Leslie Saeta's "Thirty Paintings Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge". Eeekk! I was hesitant because I know I need to complete a few larger pieces this month, but I decided to give it a go anyways. We shall see how long I can keep up!

Anyways, I want to thank you all for sticking with me this year. I truly appreciate all my followers, collectors and friends out there - my most heartfelt thanks to you all. And a sincere wish for a most Happy, Healthy and Peaceful  New Year.
