Hilltop - Small Acrylic Painting of Neon Sign

Hilltop
(Saugus, Massachusetts)
6 x 6 inches
acrylic on cradled panel

Meanwhile....back to a few more signs for some local galleries. The building that went with this giant cactus was actually demolished earlier this week. Word is that the cactus will stay, but the name "Hilltop Steak House" will be changed.

This piece is available at Zenobia Gallery in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

Mai Tai - Acrylic Painting of Kowloon Sign by Debbie Shirley

Mai Tai
8 x 6 inches
acrylic on cradled panel

Getting back to doing some of the signs on small panels for local shops. This one is available at Zenobia in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

I am using some of my "postcard" paintings from my Fun-A-Day project for ideas. I will probably be re-working some of these, changing compositions slightly and cropping differently as I eventually make my way to some larger paintings of these signs.

On the Line - Acrylic Still Life Painting of Grapes by Debbie Shirley

On the Line
12 x 16 inches
acrylic on canvas

Now I am taking some of the ideas that I played around with on my mini 3x3 and 4x4-inch paintings and am making them BIGGER. This is 12 x 16 inches. Not super huge, but the grapes are as big as my hand  ;-)

I worked on a bunch of food-themed paintings for Northshore Magazine's Grand Tasting Event last month and was reminded how much fun it is to paint food - so expect to see more. This piece will next be on exhibit for my solo show as part of the Lobby for the Arts at Provident Bank in Seabrook, New Hampshire.

El Country - Acrylic Painting of Old Neon Motel Sign

El Country
12 x 12 inches
acrylic on canvas

One of the last neon motel signs along the Saugus/Peabody stretch of Rt. 1 of Massachusetts. Glad I got a few shots of it before it was demolished. Unfortunately, I think I missed getting any pictures of the motel itself. You think these places are going to be there forever, then suddenly they are gone.....

This painting is part of the big Art Auction at the Newburyport Art Association in June.

Joes - Small Postcard Painting at Salisbury Beach by Debbie Shirley

"Wish You Were Here"
Joes
Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts
6 x 4 inches
acrylic on watercolor paper

The clown was too much fun to resist.....and the building has such a dated quality with the primary colored panels. I assume they are covering windows? I may have to do a little research to see if I can find old pictures of the building to see if it always looked that way. I was just down at Salisbury Beach last week for a show and took more pictures, so hopefully more paintings from there soon!

The Fun-A-Day Boston exhibit where these paintings were shown is now over. I should have them back int he studio soon and they will be available for sale.
