Summer Classic - Small Painting of Local Scenes, Summer, Ipswich

Summer Classic
6.125 x 5 inches
acrylic on board

Back to the Clam Box in Ipswich!
I really am enjoying painting all these signs and buildings. And there will be a bunch more as I will be the featured artist at Sage Art Gallery at the end of September - and the theme will  be having to do with local signs and buildings (still deciding on a name!).

The grouping I did of buildings in Ipswich for MiXtMedia Gallery has been popular, so  now I am doing a few more to replace the ones that have sold over the last two months. "Summer Classic" is now available at MiXtMedia.

I hope every one has a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
I plan to spend some family time - maybe some fun adventures with the boys before school starts again next week....

White Farms - Painting of Local Ice Cream Shop

White Farms
6x6 inches
acrylic on board

Yes, a cow on the roof!
I couldn't resist painting this fun ice cream place with a cow on its roof. (And the ice cream is worth the trip as well!) This is part of the "Scenes from the North Shore" that are now available at Pop Gallery in Gloucester.

We took the kids to a small "Cruise Night" last night in a nearby town. The boys actually thought it was a lot of fun, and I was able to get some new "subjects" for when I can return to my classic car paintings after my show at the end of next month....

Agawam Diner - Small Painting of Local Scene SOLD

Agawam Diner
(Rowley, MA)
6x6 inches
acrylic on board
SOLD

These little building paintings are a lot of fun! I think I need to find more diners to paint. They have a charm all their own - and they seem to be disappearing quickly. This little gem in in Rowley, a nearby town. I have eaten there a few times, but it has been years. I may need to take my kids there some day!

This painting is available through Pop Gallery through September.

This painting is another small one that I completed in Maine. It will be available at West Village Provisions in West Boxford, MA through September.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Wenham Family Festival and Fair. It was a lot of fun! I am now trying to get all my paintings organized as I begin a really busy show and fair season. I also have a bunch of work that has come back from various shows and is now available - I will be posting the paintings as I can.

Main Street - Cityscape Painting

Main Street
6.125 x 5 inches
acrylic on board

Love painting doorways...the angles and colors and shadows provide interesting shapes. This one was great fun to paint! This is a scene from Main Street in Gloucester - and the painting will be heading to Pop Gallery at the end of this week with the other scenes from the North Shore.

Pepper Pals - Small Still Life Painting, Kitchen Art SOLD

Pepper Pals
4x4 inches
acrylic on canvas
SOLD

This is another little one I completed while in Maine.
I plan to take some of these fun fruit and vegetable paintings to the show at the Wenham Museum on Saturday. Any ones left after the show will be at West Village Provisions through the month of September.

Still finishing up a few North Shore scenes to deliver on Friday. These little scenes are great fun to paint. And it seems like a lot of people like seeing these familiar places. I will be doing something similar with scenes from Haverhill for a show next month. Time to get back to the easel....

Finally Back! (And a little Beach Painting....)

Beach Day
6.125 x 5 inches
acrylic on board

Back from the wilds of Northern Maine......nice to have electricity and plumbing again, but I already miss the quiet of the woods. We have been building a camp for years - but this was the first  year we were able to stay in it. It is still under construction - but finished enough we could "camp out" under a roof. Lots of hiking, time spent in lakes and rivers, wonderful family time. It was hard to come home!

I've had to hit the ground running....the Art and Craft Fair at the Wenham Museum is this Saturday (10 to 3 if you are local) - and I have a lot to prepare for it. All kinds of new gallery shows too in the next month, plus the Topsfield Fair - and a featured artist spot at a local gallery - more info to come.....

Meanwhile, I finished a few small paintings while up north. I found the lighting on our porch to be pretty wonderful most of the day. This painting will be going to Pop Gallery in Gloucester at the end of this week.

Soooo Close! Work in Progress

Currently on my easel:

I really, really wanted to get this one done before we leave for Maine.....
Soooo close! But I still have to finish packing before we go to pick my oldest son up from Boy Scout camp, so I have to stop for now. This is a painting of the Agawam Diner in Rowley to go with the other North Shore scenes I will be taking to Pop Gallery later this month.

I don't post too many works in progress - it's all I can do to keep up with posting finished work! But I did want to show you I have been working on a new piece  - and I may not get to post for the next few weeks. We are off to Northern Maine. No power. No water. No internet access - though I usually check in while in town doing laundry, I can't post to Blogger. Hopefully I will get some painting done and have much to show you when I get back!

To the Arcade - Neon Sign Painting SOLD

To the Arcade
(Salem Willows)
6x6 inches
acrylic on board

Old signs! Even older buildings! Neon! Carnival games!

Can you tell I had fun with this one?

Lots of my favorite things at the Salem Willows in Salem, MA - I hope to do more paintings from there when I return to my Fair and Carnival Series. But for now, this one will be part of the "Scenes from the North Shore" that I take to Pop Gallery in Gloucester later this month.

I hope to have some exciting news to share about a featured exhibition coming up soon......
